Prison Reentry Court of Second Judicial District Court Nevada
Prison Reentry Court in the Second Judicial District Court is one of the oldest reentry court programs in the state of Nevada. The mission of the court is to lower the number of nonviolent defendants in corrections facilities by offering them access to intensive supervision and treatment so that individuals with underlying substance abuse issues break the cycle of criminal activity. This program is designed for formerly incarcerated individuals, and participants must be referred by the Nevada Department of Corrections. While completing their sentence, individuals must work with court assigned case managers to complete the application for referral to the Reentry Court program. To qualify, the applicant must demonstrate a willingness to: pursue permanent employment; participate in vocational services, or job skills programming; meet their court mandated obligation for restitution to the victim of their crime, if any; and must be within 2 years of their release date from corrections.
