Description

R.I.S.E. Program is a nonprofit organization that offers educational services to women incarcerated in Oklahoma prisons. They offer vocational skills and education in the Cosmetology field for no cost to the participants. Additionally, the program assists incarcerated women in obtaining their Oklahoma State Board Cosmetology license, job placement, housing, clothing, transportation, life skills, recovery support, and mentoring before reentry into society. Their aim is to lower current recidivism rates and help women change their lives after incarceration. Oklahoma State Licensed Cosmetology Master Instructors teach incarcerated women Cosmetology skills at Oklahoma's First Beauty College at a women's correctional facility. The R.I.S.E program work in collaboration with the Oklahoma DOC and the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Upon completion of the required 1500 hours, women become eligible to take their Oklahoma State Cosmetology exam. It allows them to receive their license prior to their release from prison. Contact the R.I.S.E program coordinator directly to learn more about specific services.
