SARC Re-entry Partnership Housing
Description
SARC's Re-entry Partnership Housing program provides citizens with transitional housing after their release from prison. Its mission is to assist and encourage justice-involved individuals released each year to build a prosperous life for themselves and stand in the community. The organization believes that resolving housing disparities is essential for reducing inequality and creating diverse, equitable communities. Seven different housing programs in North Carolina have partnerships with SARC. Six to eight people live in each residence in a secure setting. In addition, they can arrange short-term housing or up to 30-day hotel stays if these accommodations are full. SARC also assists people in moving to permanent housing when they have stable employment and a way to pay their rent. The group also believes that giving people a safe place to live is crucial for effective reintegration into society since it reduces recidivism and creates a secure atmosphere for returning citizens.
