The Solano County Alternate Public Defender's Fairfield Office is located in Fairfield, California. The Alternate Public Defender is a separate division of the Public Defender and is staffed in Fairfield and Vallejo. The Alternate Public Defender represents individual defendants in the cases in which the Public Defender office has declared a conflict of interest. The goals of the Alternate Public Defender are to treat each client with dignity, fight for a fair legal system, tenaciously litigate for their clients, provide client-centered representation, proactively seek new knowledge, collaborate as a team and strive for continued excellence. The felony and misdemeanor unit provide legal representation to indigent adults charged with felony and misdemeanor violations. Their juvenile unit represents Indigent juveniles charged with crimes; and indigent parents in danger of losing parental rights through Child Dependency proceedings. Lastly, the civil unit provides legal representation to indigents in Conservatorship proceedings as well as any civil proceeding where the loss of liberty is possible.
