The Teton County Public Defender's Office is located in Jackson, WY. With one Supervising Attorney and other legal support staff, this Public Defender's office ensures that every accused citizen, regardless of financial resources, receives zealous and effective representation as mandated by the United States and Wyoming Constitutions. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer. The goal of the Public Defender is to provide a fully competent, effective, and ethical defense to each client whose cause has been entrusted to the office for representation. Individuals determined to be eligible for court-appointed counsel do not have the right to choose who their attorney will be. However, they do have the right to have competent legal representation.
