The Doe Fund
The Doe Fund is a charitable organization that provides economic opportunity, housing, career training, and other services to people without housing and formerly incarcerated men to break the cycle of homelessness, incarceration, recidivism, and substance abuse. The organization advocates for criminal justice reform to end mass incarceration, to be accompanied by investments in community based solutions that address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, a lack of opportunity, education, marketable skills, and mental health and substance abuse issues. Since 1996, the group has been developing high quality, affordable houses to help individuals and families. In addition, their Ready, Willing, & Able program provides a working way home for men with a long history of incarceration, homelessness, and unemployment. Based on its holistic strategy, which combines paid work with job training, transitional housing, and complete supportive services, the Doe Fund has successfully inspired and created regional programs.
