The Houston Launch Pad
The Houston Launch Pad (THLP) is a community based organization that serves people with a wide range of interests. The program reaches out to underserved individuals, including releases/parolees, substance abuse clients, and the homeless. The Houston Launch Pad uses direct interventions to help clients obtain and retain employment through transportation assistance such as gas or bus cards, case management, counseling, vocational guidance, housing referrals, tools, training fees, and work-related clothing. In addition, their Apprenticeship training program provides basic skills training, computer training, apprenticeship, life skills and money management, NCCER Training, and On-the-Job Training. THLP also aims to end chronic homelessness among veterans. This begins with early intervention with those leaving military service. The organization has focused on providing comprehensive services to veterans and their dependents, with a particular emphasis on preparing veterans for productive employment.
