The Lazarus Experience is a nonprofit prison ministry that serves formerly incarcerated men. The Lazarus Experience's mission is to transform the lives of the incarcerated by going into prison to build relationships through regular meetings, sharing Christian practices and core values, teaching methods that change thinking and behavior and providing post-release mentoring from Christ-like role models and compassionate support from businesses, churches, and agencies. All to enable a successful transition into a productive family and community life. The Lazarus Experience works with justice-impacted people in three phases. In the pre-release phase, they work with incarcerated people prior to their release and return to the community through one-on-one discipleship and group sessions. In the transition phase, they support program participants following release as they transition back into the community by assigning volunteer support teams along with personal mentors. In the post-release phase, they continue to support our program participants as they heal holistically (spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially) and fulfill their purpose.
