The Legal Aid Society

The Legal Aid Society is committed to ensuring equal access to justice for underserved individuals in the greater New York City community. Their mission is to deliver justice to community members across all boroughs and to serve as a source of hope for individuals who are often neglected by the criminal justice system. They serve a variety of underrepresented communities with a focus on those who are systemically oppressed and mistreated by the current justice system. Staff and attorneys at The Legal Aid Society commit themselves to advocacy and representation across a variety of domestic and criminal issues. Attorneys may assist with criminal charges, bail and incarceration, parole, juvenile offenses and wrongful conviction. They are also able to help those facing housing insecurity, leaving domestic violence situations, facing deportation or immigration related charges, experiencing workforce discrimination or seeking long-term affordable treatment for chronic conditions.
