The Salvation Army North and South Carolina Division

Salvation Army is a faith-based international organization dedicated to fulfilling basic human needs and supporting marginalized people of the society. The North and South Carolina Division offers various programs and services to empower people, provide resources to individuals and families, and break the cycle of poverty. The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope initiative provides individualized services to families with children who desire to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. Families are able to overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education with the Salvation Army programs which increase their stability and self-sufficiency. The Salvation Army's Family Shelter programs provide transitional housing to men, women, and families in need. They also offer emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities to help households prevent homelessness. Support for youth is provided through after-school programs that include one-on-one assistance with homework and school assignments, and teaching and advancement of literacy and study skills.
