The Workplace
The Workplace creates pathways to permanent employment in the community for justice involved individuals and others in need. The Platform to Employment Re-Entry program targets individuals who are returning to the community after incarceration, working to create sustainable routes to self-sufficiency and independence. Using the Platform to Employment model, this program is modified to meet the specific needs of formerly incarcerated individuals and address the barriers they face when reentering the workforce. All participants receive job readiness and career development training, as well as personal development services. The Workplace offers career-related tools, seminars, behavioral health services, financial counseling and other resources to strengthen skills to secure careers. Additionally, the program provides limited support for individuals who require transportation or childcare as they work toward full-time employment. Residents of Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Norwich and Waterbury are eligible for support.
