Thrive Communities
Description
Thrive Communities is a community-based response to the challenges faced by adults transitioning from incarceration. It is designed to empower returning community members and more deeply engage local community members in experiences of reentry and accountability. Thrive cultivates lasting community relationships that value justice-related victims and understand that no person is disposable. They believe that, when justice and wholeness replace cycles of incarceration and oppression, communities thrive. By organizing and supporting grassroots efforts for restorative reentry, community building, and leadership development, Thrive seeks to disrupt cycles of incarceration, isolation, and social harm among those most impacted by incarceration. This community-based response to the challenges of reentry will help communities learn how to heal themselves and address systemic barriers to reentry. Thrive personalizes reentry into local communities through circles of support and accountability training, even pairing formerly-incarcerated individuals with volunteers in order to create a productive and seamless transition out of the justice system.
