The Uinta County Public Defender's Office is located in Evanston, WY. Their office serves indigent defendants in criminal proceedings. With one Supervising Attorney and other legal support staff, they are committed to ensuring that all individuals facing criminal charges or a criminal trial have access to quality defense attorneys as per their 6th Amendment rights. Public Defenders have an ethical responsibility to work for the best possible resolution of the case for the client. Therefore, all dealings between a court-appointed attorney and the client are confidential. In addition, attorneys who provide public defense representation are not only subject to the Wyoming State Bar’s ethical requirements that govern all lawyers but must also meet qualification standards that have been established for public defense representation. The Public Defender's office's roles and responsibilities include providing legal representation, consultation, and advice to clients, representing clients in criminal investigative proceedings, developing a defense plan, conducting investigative legal research, interviewing required clients and witnesses, working closely with clients, and discussing relevant information and strategies.
