Unheard Voices Outreach

Description

Unheard Voices Outreach, or UVO, is a nonprofit organization that assists incarcerated Tennesseans to transition back into the community successfully. UVO imagines a second chance culture where people released from jail or prison are empowered to live full and free. Their work is focused on preparing and organizing incarcerated people and their families for parole hearings, post-conviction hearings, and more. UVO also utilizes resources to create healing spaces for formerly incarcerated individuals that helps in returning to the community. Additionally, UVO advocates for the release of individuals held within the Tennessee Department of Corrections beyond what the law and justice require. C3 (Creating a Caring Community) is a program that allows formerly incarcerated individuals to share their experiences, support one another and participate in a community. The UVO Watcher's Project requests people to observe and participate in the parole and post-conviction court hearings of UVO participants. It brings hope and helps the community, current and formerly incarcerated adults and at-risk youth.
