Utah Prisoner Advocate Network
The Utah Prisoner Advocate Network (UPAN) is a community outreach organization that aims to simplify the incarceration process for the families of incarcerated people—while also advocating for better conditions inside Utah jails and prisons. Their mission is to provide a safe and understanding place for families and friends of incarcerated individuals to connect and share their challenges and receive support and information to help them more effectively cope on their prison journey. Additionally, UPAN offers support and assistance to incarcerated individuals by identifying their challenges and problems as they serve their sentences and communicating with prison officials and the Utah Department of Corrections administration to address and resolve these problems. UPAN provides education and information to the family and friends of incarcerated people and the general public through public discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures, as well as the dissemination of information through electronic media.
