Section Title

Wasatch Behavioral Health Jail Transition Program

The Jail Transition Program (JTP) addresses the mental health needs of incarcerated people returning to society after incarceration in Utah County. The program was created in 2016 by Wasatch Behavioral Health— a community mental health center in Utah. Various programs and services are offered for children, teens and adults in both Utah and Wasatch Counties. The Jail Transition Program fills the gap in services in the community by addressing the high recidivism rate for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. JTP services are offered to those individuals who are currently serving time in the Utah County Jail and who will be released within the next three months or who have been released within the past six weeks. Program services include medication management, therapy, case management services, substance abuse treatment referrals, vocational rehab, clothing vouchers, food stamps and more. Eligible participants must have a diagnosable mental illness such as Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Schizophrenia, etc. and no medical insurance.
