Western Nevada College Higher Education in Prison Program

Western Nevada College Higher Education in Prison Program connects currently incarcerated men with educational opportunities. The program provides access to higher education and workforce training to those serving time in Warm Springs and Northern Nevada Correctional Centers. The mission is to assist these individuals as they work toward personal improvement and prepare for a successful reintegration into the community. Participants may earn up to an Associate of Arts in General Studies or an Associate of Applied Science during incarceration, setting them up to enter a four year university or begin work as soon as they are released. Western Nevada College has plans to offer an Automotive Technician certificate, as well as other trade certificates, in the near future. They also collaborate with Truckee Meadows Community College to provide reentry support as participants begin the process of reentry.
