The Wichita County Public Defender Office is located in Wichita Falls, Texas. It zealously represents clients’ interests with courage, devotion, and uncompromised advocacy according to the law and the utmost of their learning and ability. With one Chief Public Defender, five Assistant Public Defenders, one First Assistant Public Defender, one Senior Assistant Public Defender, two Legal Secretary and other supporting staff, the office provides clients with effective, quality legal services. The mission of the Wichita County Public Defender’s Office is to provide quality legal representation to indigent citizens accused of crimes in Wichita County, Texas, through effective, competent, ethical and timely means. Public Defenders have a moral responsibility to work for the best possible resolution of the case for the client. All dealings between a court-appointed attorney and the client are confidential. Individuals determined to be eligible for court-appointed counsel do not have the right to choose who their attorney will be. However, they do have the right to have competent legal representation.
