Witness to Innocence

Witness to Innocence is a membership organization for individuals who have been exonerated and freed from death row. The organization was founded by exonerees who wanted to create a supportive community of survivors. They help to facilitate mentorship, camaraderie and empowerment for those released from death row and their loved ones. Witness to Innocence actively educates the community about the injustice of the death penalty and works to end its use nationwide through a combination of public speaking events, testimony during state hearings and legislative sessions, and limited media engagements. Individuals exonerated from death row provide keen insight and humanize the debate around capital punishment. They hope to capitalize on the efforts of exonerees around the country who have assisted in the abolishment of the death penalty in various states over the past decade and a half. For more information about the organization or to request membership, review eligibility requirements and utilize the contact information on the website.
