Section Title

School Justice Project

School Justice Project is a legal advocacy organization that specializes in serving older students with special education needs in the justice system. Staff and attorneys believe strongly in ensuring that those with special needs have equitable access to justice in youth corrections courts. They protect the rights of their clients through direct representation, advocacy, policy work, community outreach and legal training. Direct representation supports justice involved individuals by providing them with quality legal advice and information about their rights under the law. Attorneys also participate in community advocacy and work with stakeholders to institute more equitable justice policies that provide permanent protection to individuals with special needs in the youth justice system. Through community outreach, staff help educate the community about the need for better protections and treatment of these clients before, during and after incarceration. Legal training helps improve the representation offered by other attorneys and community members committed to protecting the rights of those with special needs.
