Global Disability Rights Now

Global Disability Rights Now is a comprehensive resource center that provides information, tools and best practices to implement and enforce laws and policies to protect the rights of people with disabilities. They provide practical tools, legal analysis, case studies and strategies, principles behind landmark disability rights legislation, information and referral service. The organization draws on the experience of the U.S. disability rights movement and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other disability rights activists in RightsNow! project countries and other regions. They provide information tailored to governments, civil society and Disabled People’s Organizations. Global Disability Rights Now offers information in nine major categories - Alternatives to institutionalization, Education, Employment/labor, Gender-based violence prevention, Indigenous people with disabilities, Information technology, Infrastructural and environmental physical accessibility, Law and policy and Women with disabilities. People with disabilities have the same right to justice and fair treatment as anyone else. However, those with non-apparent disabilities may encounter discrimination within the criminal justice system. The organization provides resources on access to justice for people with disabilities.
