41st Judicial District, LA Public Defender’s Office

The 41st Judicial District Public Defender's Office is located in New Orleans, LA. With District Defenders, attorneys and other support staff, the 41st Judicial District Office serve clients in Orleans Parish. This office provides legal representation to people charged with a misdemeanor, felony, capital appellate and post-conviction matters. Their mission is to advocate for clients, support practitioners and protects the public by continually improving the services guaranteed by the constitutional right to counsel. In addition, this office aims to prevent wrongful convictions, protect due process and constitutional rights, increase public safety, promote fiscal responsibility, and support economic growth throughout Louisiana. The Lousiana Public Defender Board (LPDB) oversees the work of the 41st Judicial District Office of the Public Defender. Moreover, the LPDB administers the Public Defender Fund, which supports all 42 judicial districts and covers expert witness fees and a limited number of DNA tests to prove possible innocence.
