The American Civil Liberties Union is one of the largest activist organizations in the country focused on protecting individual rights and promoting social justice. ACLU of New Jersey works to ensure that all individuals in New Jersey receive fair and equitable justice through direct advocacy and policy writing, individual representation and lobbying. They also operate public education programs to inform the people of New Jersey about new and pending legislation that may affect their constitutional rights. They also operate the ACLU New Jersey Foundation, which funds individual representation and advocacy efforts around the state. They are a nonprofit organization that serves justice-impacted individuals at every stage of incarceration, from arrest to release. Individuals can contact the program directly to discuss representation or request additional assistance.
