Baker Industries Workforce Development

Baker Industries is a nonprofit workforce development program serving hard-to-employ adults in Pennsylvania communities since 1980. Baker Industries’ unique non-profit workforce development program provides essential work opportunities and training for over 200 vulnerable, hard to employ adults each year. Working from one of their two large production facilities, Baker Industries successfully serves dozens of customers each day and demonstrates the capability and potential of individuals facing challenges when given a chance. With that in mind, Baker Industries believes that partnering with them improves the bottom line for relevant businesses, families, and communities.

Baker Industries Workforce Development participants build work skills, self-esteem, and hope in a caring environment that prepares them for sustained success in the workplace. In this way, the Workforce Development Program is designed to unlock each person’s unique potential and provide a sense of purpose to adults with barriers to employment. At each of Baker Industries' light industrial facilities, program participants perform real work for real customers across the Philadelphia region. In exchange, they receive a regular hourly wage and the opportunity to engage in workshops, social events, support groups, and more, all designed to help them build the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.
