Bay County, MI Public Defender’s Office

The Bay County Public Defender Office, located in Bay City, Michigan, provides legal representation to persons who cannot afford a private attorney and are charged with criminal offenses that may result in a jail sentence. The U.S. Constitution orders representation is generally provided by one of the three staff attorneys with the Public Defender Office but may be provided by an appointed private attorney. In addition, one staff attorney specializes in Probate Court and Friend of the Court matters. Their attorneys and staff are committed to providing excellent representation to indigent citizens charged with Misdemeanors and Felonies in Bay County. In addition, their attorneys are an experienced team of attorneys whose sole function is to represent those defendants assigned to this office by the Court. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer.
