The Broome County Public Defender’s Office is located in Binghamton, NY. With one Public Defender, Staff Attorneys and other support staff, this office provides legal representation to all indigent persons accused of crimes in Broome County as mandated by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of New York. This office services each of the 19 Village and Town Justice Courts, the Broome County Centralized Arraignment Part, the Binghamton City Court, Superior Courts of Broome County, and all higher Appellate Courts. The Broome County Public Defenders act as defense counsel from arraignment through trial and all stages of appeal for criminal cases ranging from simple violations to homicides.
