County Re-Entry Task Force Initiative

The County Re-Entry Task Force Initiative is part of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The task force exists to address the systemic issue of recidivism and to develop programming which helps reduce the likelihood of reincarceration through vital support services. Currently, the task force consists of twenty counties throughout the state which collaborate with staff inside the Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives. The task force is responsible for training all state employees and community members who wish to support formerly incarcerated individuals during the reentry process, as well as managing all state sponsored services related to reintegration. This includes job development programs, treatment centers and residential programs that specifically serve justice involved individuals. The hope is that a coordinated effort to support and streamline these programs will result in lower rates of incarceration and provide justice involved individuals with the best chance at permanent reentry into the community.
