Criminal Justice Clinic, Washington College of Law

The Criminal Justice Clinic housed at Washington College of Law offers vital legal services to individuals in the greater Maryland area. Participants at the Criminal Justice Clinic develop essential skills in theory and practice related to advocacy in the criminal and juvenile justice systems, including crossover skills that can apply to many sectors of law. Currently, the program offers programming for second and third year law students to hone their skills in defense and/or prosecution. Primary areas of focus include: adults facing misdemeanor charges, juveniles in the justice system, and individuals serving life sentences for crimes committed when they were under the age of 18. The Criminal Justice Clinic considers cases referred to them by the Montgomery County Public Defender's Office. All students provide direct representation to their clients, under supervision from law professors, for clients in Montgomery, Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.
