Gastineau Human Services Corporation is an Alaska-based nonprofit organization run by a volunteer staff. It is intended to offer affordable, community-based alternatives for health and rehabilitation services. GHS provides chemical dependency treatment, community corrections programs, as well as temporary housing. They have developed a multi-faceted program that understands and centers the fact that basic needs are correlative. Their programs work in tandem to simultaneously resolve issues related to public safety, chemical dependency, housing and nutrition, educational and career skills development. GHS strives to empower participants to reach personal advancement and financial independence, obtain training and pursue employment opportunities, and learn to accept personal responsibility for their choices.
