Indiana Public Defender Council

The Indiana Public Defender Council (IPDC) is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. With five research and juvenile delinquency attorneys and other staff members, the IPDC provides research assistance, technical support, and consultation to the member attorneys on their indigent defense cases. Moreover, IPDC conducts case reviews with public defenders. They also brainstorm the theory of the case, discuss evidentiary issues, help them plan cross-examination, prep for oral argument, or address other case issues. The IPDC website provides helpful resources for someone involved in the juvenile justice system. These resources include information on the Indiana juvenile defense system, rights at trial, the impact of juvenile delinquency findings, obtaining a public defender, appeal, expungement, school discipline process and more. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer.
