Iowa Prison Industries

Iowa Prison Industries offers job training to the men and women who are currently incarcerated in Iowa's state prisons. More than 90% of individuals serving time in state prison are scheduled to be released, and the goal of Iowa Prison Industries is to show them how to attain and maintain a job once they return to the community. Iowa Prison Industries programs help to ensure that their communities are safe because justice involved individuals with strong job skills are less likely to participate in renewed criminal activity once they are released. Formerly incarcerated individuals with good job experience are also a vital resource for Iowa employers, contributing to the state's economic growth. Iowa Prison Industries is 100% self-funding and receives no government appropriations.
