The Massachusetts Committee For Public Counsel Services in Suffolk County has two divisional offices— a Commitment Unit and a Youth Advocacy Division (YAD) Trial Office, located in Roxbury, Massachusetts. With one Attorney-in-Charge, three Trial Attorneys, and one Appellate Staff Attorney, the Roxbury Commitment Unit (Suffolk County & McLean Hospital) provides counsel to indigent people facing civil commitments to McLean Hospital (Belmont), Lemuel Shattuck Hospital & Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. In addition, the Roxbury YAD Office has one Attorney-in-Charge, three Staff Counsels, and one Social Services Advocate serving youth in the Suffolk County area, including the Boston, Chelsea, Dorchester, and West Roxbury Juvenile Courts. YAD Roxbury Office represents children in delinquency and youthful offender proceedings. Youth Advocacy Division (YAD) provides effective representation in court and educational advocacy and individualized referrals to community-based resources.
