Michigan Indian Legal Services is a community based organization that offers advocacy and support for indigenous people. The mission of Michigan Indian Legal Services is to enhance the lives of Native American individuals, families, and communities through legal services and advocacy free of charge for those who meet income eligibility for services. The organization is a specialized law office that supports the specific legal needs of the members of the indigenous communities in Michigan to: 1) empower families and support cultural practices, 2) ensure inalienable rights and access to basic necessities, and 3) reform policies and practices that are damaging to their clients and client communities.
