The Missouri State Public Defender System (MSPD) Kansas City Office consists of four divisions—Appellate/PCR West A and West B Division, a Juvenile Division, and the Capital Litigation Western District. MSPD is a statewide system. The Appellate/PCR Division is responsible for appellate and post-conviction litigation, including capital cases (death penalty trial representation). The MSPD has approximately 395 staff attorneys assisted by support staff, paralegals, and investigators.
