The head office of the Montana State Conflict Defender’s Division is located in Butte, MT. This office represents indigent defendants in the circumstances in which, because of conflict of interest, the public defender division or the appellate defender division cannot provide representation to a defendant. Their mission is to provide effective professional legal services with equal access to quality client-centered representation. If you wish to apply for representation, please go to the Office of State Public Defender’s (OSPD) AdvOPD platform. AdvOPD is a Defender’s Legal Matter Management Platform that houses all information related to all OPD cases. Clients may access basic information about their cases, such as their court calendars, assigned attorneys, and documents or other information OPD employees have made available to them. Clients may also communicate with OPD attorneys and staff securely and confidentially through the AdvOPD portal. Please visit their website for who qualifies for representation by the Public Defender’s Office and how and when you can apply.
