My Community Cares, Inc. is a faith-based organization supporting formerly incarcerated individuals and other vulnerable members of the community. They are the nonprofit arm of The Real Church, a ministry that sought to answer the call of the community when violence and gang presence increased. Original founders hope to provide intervention services and community support as a deterrent to crime. The Reentry Center of Brevard, one of the programs hosted by My Community Cares, Inc., centers on the protection of and support for individuals who are returning to the community after incarceration. The mission of the center is to accelerate returning citizens’ potential by providing them with valuable skills that allow them to experience success and become contributing members of the community. Their post-release services include: housing, employment, cognitive-behavioral intervention, health care, job placement and training, mentoring, and counseling.
