Presence from Prison is a nonprofit organization that collects donations and distributes them to the children of incarcerated parents. Their mission is to ensure that all children, and especially those impacted by the criminal justice system, maintain connection with incarcerated parents. Incarcerated parents work with volunteers to coordinate and send donated gifts to their children for birthdays, holidays and special occasions so that their children never feel forgotten or alone. Eligible parents must show a strong commitment to self-improvement and healing in order to participate in Presence from Prison. The organization hopes that being able to recognize their children on special days will act as incentive for incarcerated parents to alter damaging behaviors.
