Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center, Inc. provides mental health and juvenile support services to Arkansas residents of the Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller and Sevier counties. Their mission is to prevent, treat, and cure mental illnesses and related disorders. Services are provided to individuals with mental health and substance abuse disorders and youth experiencing legal issues. The youth services program provides juvenile probation and case management services to each county in their catchment area. The ultimate goal is to facilitate reconciliation between child and family by providing whatever services needed, including court-ordered counseling or other recommendations suggested to alleviate problems. Included in those services are anger management programs, parenting and grand-parenting classes, mentoring, and individual and group life skill programs, intensive aftercare supervision. Counseling and mental health services are usually set up and monitored for attendance by the individual case manager and probation officer.
