Section Title

St. Leonard’s Ministries

The mission of St. Leonard’s Ministries is to assist formerly incarcerated individuals to lead fulfilling and productive lives after release. Founded in 1954, the program has continually developed and provided services to reduce recidivism rates for its participants. Individuals receive wrap-around services that include personal development, cognitive therapy and medical care, as well as job training and placement. They serve formerly incarcerated individuals on South and West Side of Chicago. Most participants self-identify as people of color and have multiple interactions with the justice system. Many have also experienced housing emergencies as a direct result of the interactions with police. St. Leonard's Ministries focuses on providing the services that participants may not have received during incarceration and meeting the needs of individuals post-release.
