Section Title

The Bronx Defenders, NY

The Bronx Defenders is a public defender nonprofit serving low-income people in Bronx County and, in doing so, transforming the justice system itself. With a team of advocates, including criminal defense attorneys, family defense attorneys, civil attorneys, immigration attorneys, social workers, civil legal advocates, parent advocates, benefits specialists, investigators, and community organizers, The Bronx Defenders fosters interdisciplinary skill sets, ensures compassionate and comprehensive representation, and supports a culture of innovative, zealous, and holistic advocacy. Their criminal, civil, immigration and family defense attorneys — alongside social workers and non-lawyer advocates —address the complex web of legal issues, cases, and consequences that can arise from justice involvement. Criminal defense attorneys at The Bronx Defenders work side-by-side with the other advocates on their teams to identify the causes of their clients’ criminal justice involvement and to protect them from the penalties associated with their cases. They also act as a family defense organization that provides advocacy for families during the child protection investigation before a legal lawsuit is filed, often making court intervention.
