The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place seeks to intervene and improve the lives of people experiencing generational poverty and oppression. Their mission is to develop a safe and optimistic community where all individuals have access to positive, meaningful relationships and feel capable of self-sufficient living. Staff and volunteers work to combat poverty and target the underlying factors that perpetuate homelessness, financial insecurity and incarceration through a comprehensive support system. They are especially focused on supporting women, transgender people and children who are experiencing housing or financial crisis, as well as those working to reintegrate into the community after incarceration. All services offered by The Gathering Place are free and available to the public. Adults have access to chemical dependence and/or mental health treatment, financial assistance, support accessing healthcare and transportation assistance. Families with children under the age of 18 may also qualify for long term support and access to kid friendly spaces at The Gathering Place.
