Section Title

The STAR Project

The STAR project is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide persons being released from incarceration with the essential tools to successfully reintegrate into the community as productive, contributing members of society. The Project aims to increase community safety and reduce recidivism by assisting persons to successfully transition from incarceration to the community. They serve people with felony convictions who have been released from jail or prison within the last calendar year to help with reentry and transition into everyday life. The STAR Project's Pre-Release Transition services help those who are currently in prison prepare for life outside. Their Case Management is an individualized program to help the reentry process occur as smoothly as possible. Transitional housing services are provided to clients along with employment services such as job readiness, resumes and cover letters, and with referrals. Education and mentoring services include helping clients with the college application process, and through it, creating positive connections before release.
