The Way Home is a non-profit organization assisting formerly incarcerated individuals with successful reentry into the community. They are the only program in Sussex County that specifically focuses on reentry. The Way Home partners with the Department of Corrections, the Public Defenders office, Georgetown and local corrections agencies, probation and parole officers to best serve those in the program. The Way Home connects with formerly incarcerated people on the day of their release to facilitate a return to the community, assess and meet individual needs, and develop relationships that reduce the chance of recidivism. Their services include transitional shelter, food and clothing services, and job support. They also offer mentorship and personal development to ensure permanent behavioral changes focused on ending the cycle of recidivism.
Right on Crime is a national campaign to promote successful, conservative solutions to American criminal justice policy—reforming the system to ensure public safety, shrink government, and save taxpayers money.
