Turning Around Ministries (TAM) is a faith-based community outreach program designed to offer after-care services to previously incarcerated persons who are returning to Newport County from the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institution (ACI). They offer holistic, personalized guidance to help ex-offenders and homeless persons address a myriad of issues such as employment, education, housing, food, clothing, substance abuse and personal development. TAM’s vision is that previously incarcerated persons returning to Newport County will be offered the guidance, spiritual and emotional support, and other services required to meet the gamut of their reentry needs. In order to achieve this vision, TAM provides a variety of services, including Housing, Food, Clothing, Employment, Education, and more. Turning Around Ministries has received funding from major fundraising organizations and is continuing to grow as more ex-offenders in Newport County benefit from their services.
The Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility (ATEF) helps prepare participants to transition from incarceration to re-entry. It is a residential facility that provides comprehensive behavioral, vocational and educational services to prepare incarcerated people to enter the Work Release Program.
