St. Vincent De Paul – Immersion
Description
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) in Des Moines is a nonprofit charitable organization providing a unique style of personal assistance with food, clothing, educational and job training and other services to people facing economic, emotional or spiritual crises. Nationally, nearly one-third of the individuals they serve are returning citizens or are directly impacted by incarceration. As a result, SVdP is developing a powerful organization for their work in all aspects of reentry. Their organizational rules, structure, and goal of ending poverty provide a strong framework for building a high-impact, sustainable program. The above program, named Immersion/reentry, provides St. Vincent de Paul with a permanent program of assistance to an untapped workforce and directs service to return citizens to some of those most in need. The SVdP reentry program continues to expand and review its key programs to maximize their impact and efficiency. In addition, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul continues their work in systemic change to end poverty and assist people in reintegrating into their community.
