Rio Salado College Incarcerated Programs

Description

Rio Salado College is an authorized post-secondary community college providing educational programs to incarcerated individuals. The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) has facilities across the state of Arizona and works with post-secondary community colleges nearest a prison facility. Rio Salado College partners with the Arizona Department of Corrections to offer occupational and educational programs at ASPC-Perryville and ASPC-Lewis. Students can choose to participate in the Rio Salado College Correspondence program and is available on non-restricted units. The correspondence program also works with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), CoreCivic, GEO Group, SRPMIC, and Gila DRS. In addition, Rio Salado College was approved for Second Chance Pell for two prisons in Arizona, Perryville and Lewis. Students at other prisons need another payment method to enroll in courses. Additionally, the federally funded grant, Workplace and Community Transition Training Program for Incarcerated Youth Offenders, is designed to help incarcerated students make a smooth transition back into their community upon release.
