GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders
Description
GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders is a community based organization that advocates for a more equitable society for all. They champion policies and legislation designed to eliminate discriminatory practices based on gender identity and sexuality, as well as advocate for and educate the community about the need for comprehensive protections for GLBTQ individuals in the corrections system. GLAD involves itself in litigation related to a number of issues, including: access to justice, racial justice, transgender rights, immigration, pride, youth justice and parenting. They also help facilitate improved care for individuals living with HIV/AIDS and combat social stigmas around the medical diagnosis. For nearly fifty years, GLAD has served community members across the United States through direct representation, legal advice, research and advocacy to ensure that all individuals' constitutional rights are protected. For more information about current cases and litigation, individuals should contact the organization directly using the information on this page.
