NJ DOC Office of Transitional Services
Description
The New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) is responsible for the operations and management of prison facilities in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The NJDOC's mission is to protect the public by operating correctional facilities that are safe, secure, and humane. In addition, NJDOC uses effective prison population treatment and services to promote successful reentry into society. The Office of Transitional Services works to provide seamless healthcare for justice impacted individuals by utilizing cost effective and proven methods to improve abilities and motivation to engage in crime-free behavior. They also monitor the department's transitional and social services programs. The NJDOC's vision is that everyone released from a correctional facility will be ready to reintegrate into society as a productive, law-abiding citizen. NJDOC improves public safety by reducing the possibility of an incarcerated person reoffending and returning to prison by providing support care from the time they enter the jail until they reintegrate into society.
