Minnesota Prison Work Release Program
Description
Minnesota Prison Work Release Program is a social service organization focused on restorative justice and reintegration. The purpose of the program is to coordinate with correctional facilities and offer provisional housing alongside transitional employment for individuals who are returning to the community with criminal convictions. The organization targets two of the biggest barriers to successful reentry, stable housing and viable employment. By helping formerly incarcerated individuals to address these barriers prior to their release, staff hope to reduce the rate of recidivism and give individuals the best chance at permanently disrupting the cycle of incarceration. Currently, the Minnesota Prison Work Release Program is rated Promising, meaning that the state has evaluated the efficacy of the program and determined that participants are statistically less likely to reoffend or return to corrections facilities than their peers who do not participate in the program.
