Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands
Description
Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, or LAS, is a nonprofit law firm that offers free legal aid to low-income people. The mission of LAS is to advance, defend, and enforce the legal rights of low-income and vulnerable people to secure the basic necessities of life for them. They have eight offices across Tennessee that serve 48 counties. LAS offers free civil legal services and community education for people in need. In partnership with the Georgetown University Law Center, the Reentry Program for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, developed a Tennessee Expungement Eligibility Assessment web-based app to increase access to self-help expungement eligibility information. This app tells what things on a criminal record can be taken off or expunged legally. Additionally, they have Legal Help Booklets on their website to help visitors with their legal problems. Contact LAS directly to learn more about eligibility and the intake process.
